Dr Chris Arthur

Dr Chris is passionate about Women’s Health and the provision of high-quality health care. He has a strong interest in helping individuals and couples’ fertility goals and to help manage gynecological concerns. Dr Chris offers a safe, comprehensive, caring and considered approach to each patient, working with them to find solutions to the problems that trouble them. He enjoys the excitement of diagnosis, the challenge of helping to conceive and the satisfaction of assisting someone with the management of a condition that is disrupting their life.
After completing his medical schooling at the University of Queensland, Dr Chris spent his foundation years working in hospitals in Southeast and Northern Queensland. He then moved to Ireland, working in Dublin Emergency Departments for two years, exposing him to a vast array of acute and sub-acute medical and surgical presentations and reinforcing his management strategies in high-pressure situations.
Returning to Australia, Dr Chris relocated to Mitchell in Western Queensland where he worked in the capacity of a GP and small rural hospital doctor, and got to truly understand what it means to provide care for a community. After returning home to South East Queensland Dr Chris commenced specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to commit to his passion, women’s health. In his senior training years he undertook further training in minimally invasive gynaecology (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery)..
After attaining his Fellowship, Dr Chris was appointed to a position at the Gold Coast University Hospital as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, a post he still holds.
As well as completing his primary medical degree and College Fellowship, Dr Chris has completed two Masters Degrees - one in Sports Medicine from a love of sport (as a participant and coach) to help him in his earlier career, and one in Reproductive Medicine. He has also published individually and as part of large collaborations in peer reviewed journals. Dr Chris relishes the opportunity to teach and train those coming into and through the speciality and to provide a service to the greater Gold Coast community.
Dr Chris is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES), the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.
